Huawei to host annual Developer Conference at Web Summit 2022 and reveal winners of Editors’ Choice Awards

Huawei, the leading global technology company, is once again hosting its annual business-focused developer conference HDC.Europe during Web Summit 2022, the yearly gathering for the global tech industry held in Lisbon, Portugal (1-4 November).

Huawei will be running an exclusive event featuring a dedicated business masterclass for top partners, developers and publishers. The masterclass aims to provide attendees with an understanding of the benefits that the Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) ecosystem delivers alongside the increased revenue and customer retention opportunities.

Commenting on this year’s underlying theme for HDC.Europe conference, Jaime Gonzalo, VP of Huawei Mobile Services Europe, said: “The world around us is increasingly full of challenges and uncertainty. We need to embrace this new era, and connect the dots of opportunity. At our Huawei Developer event we’ll share our experiences in overcoming challenges and will give a sneak peek at ground-breaking business solutions designed to meet the needs of various digital scenarios. We’ll also showcase best practices and results from our work with top partners around the world”.

Web Summit, which brings together the people and organisations that are reshaping the international tech scene, provides a fitting backdrop for the Huawei Developer Conference and the inaugural masterclass. Attendees will be able to listen to talks, hear case studies and understand best practices from Huawei and its global partners during the afternoon session on 2 November.

In addition to delivering the masterclass, Huawei will also host the yearly AppGallery Editors’ Choice Awards 2022 gala for the very first time during Web Summit. The awards, which recognise best apps and games of the year, will also feature new business categories commending partners and agencies on their successful campaigns leveraging key HMS services such as HUAWEI Ads.

Editors’ Choice Awards 2022

Huawei’s AppGallery Editors’ Choice Awards 2022 are now in their third year and will recognise not only the games and apps that have had the most positive impact on users’ lives over the past 12 months, but also those that, through business cooperation between Huawei and its partners, have driven the best revenues using HUAWEI Ads and cross-services growth solution.

The awards, which are voted for by Huawei’s expert country editor teams across Europe, will also put on record app developers’ determination to deliver users with seamless and satisfactory experiences. This is an important element of AppGallery’s growth, which now serves more than 580 million global monthly active users, and has seen a 147% year-on-year rise in the number of apps integrated with HMS.

“We are adding business cooperation as a category in our AppGallery Editors’ Choice Awards to reflect the levels of achievement that partners can realise by working in collaboration with us,” said Jaime Gonzalo, VP of Huawei Mobile Services Europe. “Our best partners are taking advantage of our ability to improve activation, monetisation and retention across multiple apps, in order not just to raise revenue but also boost customer loyalty and encourage higher install numbers. The new award category recognises this”.
