Children Groomed, Bullied and Blackmailed Online Sparks Launch of New Child-Safe Telecom Company

After years of supporting families devastated by the dark side of smartphones and social media, screen addiction specialist and Rebel Therapies founder Munur Shah is launching Rebel Telecom, a bold new telecom company designed to protect children from the growing dangers of the online world.

From cyberbullying and emotional breakdowns to grooming and blackmail, Munur says the stories he has witnessed through his work with families across the UK have become impossible to ignore. What began as a personal struggle with screen addiction inside his own home has now evolved into a nationwide mission to help families reclaim control from addictive technology.

An accredited NLP practitioner, executive coach and screen addiction specialist, Munur first recognised the damage smartphones were causing when he noticed his own screen habits beginning to affect his children and family life. Years later, through Rebel Therapies, he has worked directly with parents, schools and safeguarding teams supporting children facing severe mental health challenges linked to excessive smartphone and social media use.

Many of these experiences are explored in his book, Screen Addict: Parenting Success Stories That Will Change Your Life, which includes real stories from families impacted by online grooming, bullying, anxiety and digital addiction.

“Parents are terrified,” said Munur Shah. “I have worked with families whose children have been groomed online, blackmailed, exposed to harmful content and emotionally consumed by their phones. Most parents feel trapped between giving their child unrestricted access to technology or isolating them completely. Rebel Telecom was created because families deserve a safer option.”

At the centre of the launch is the Rebel Phone, a child-conscious smartphone built with a custom operating system called RebelOS. Unlike traditional smartphones that rely on removable parental control apps, the Rebel Phone has safeguarding features built directly into the device itself, helping reduce exposure to addictive apps, harmful online content and social media risks while still allowing children to stay connected safely.

The launch comes as concerns around children’s online safety, smartphone dependency and mental health continue to dominate national conversations across schools, safeguarding organisations and government.
