Motorhome Wi-Fi backs British Superbike champ

Leisure vehicle connectivity experts, Motorhome Wi-Fi have backed British Superbike Champion, Ryan Vickers with a built-in motorhome wi-fi system that has seen him through a successful season on the track.

Ryan, who was one of the youngest riders at the renowned Bennetts British Superbike Championship in 2021, has been using his Auto-Trail motorhome as a home from home, travelling to and from 11 UK race circuits over the season. Often staying in remote rural locations, Ryan says he previously struggled with an unreliable 4G connection from his phone, but having both the motorhome and the connectivity has been a huge aid in helping to prepare for races.

He says: “It’s been a great season and I’m pleased to have made some big improvements on the track and triple my points from the previous year. Off the track, it’s been crucial to get some relaxation and race prep time, so having instant access to on-demand TV, and staying in touch with friends and family with solid wi-fi and SIM card data plan has helped support that.”

The race for wi-fi

After COVID impacted 2020, with no spectators permitted at races, the last season saw around 60,000 to 70,000 as an average attendance. Ryan says: “It was superb to have the fans and get that atmosphere back. You can feel the difference with the connectivity though with so many people vying for wi-fi simultaneously.”

During and after racing, it’s valuable for riders and their teams to have access to timing solutions platform, TSL where lap times, circuit information, speeds and finishing positions are recorded and can be viewed. Ryan says it’s made a real difference knowing he can have easy access to this data as and when he needs it.

Ryan adds that the F-Line 74 Auto-Trail, has been the best way for him to travel. With its fixed raised bed, greater space is available to safely house his push bike and moped, both of which he uses for exercise and to analyse the track ahead of races.

Managing Director at Motorhome Wi-Fi, Adam Blacklin says: “It’s been a pleasure to support Ryan and we are pleased our wi-fi solutions have supported what has been a fantastic season for him.”
